WHAT DOES BUILT DIFFERENT MEAN ↗
01

THE IDEA

Different is a method.
Not decoration.

Better does not always come from following the same blueprint.

Built Different Technology exists for products, systems and ideas that take another route because the problem deserves one. The identity holds the same tension: engineered enough to be trusted, disrupted enough to be recognised.

01 / FOUNDATION
Precise. Capable. Built to work.
02 / INTERRUPTION
Question the inherited route.
03 / OUTCOME
Difference with a reason.
02

THE MARK

One identity.
One unmistakable state.

The controlled fracture is the identity, not an optional effect. The wordmark uses a directional horizontal break; the compact BDT badge uses a distinct vertical structural break so each remains recognisable at its intended scale.

VISIBLE HEIGHT

Size the mark you can see.

Measure the visible artwork, not the transparent export canvas. The clear pixels around a master asset are not part of its displayed height.

WORDMARK
100 px minimum Use at 100–1600 px in brand-led headers, covers and feature moments.
BADGE
50 px minimum Use at 50-1000 px in navigation, product bars and other compact placements.

SWITCH RULE If a placement cannot give the wordmark at least 64 px of visible height, use the badge. Never shrink the wordmark until its name becomes texture.

03

THE STAMP

The quiet sign-off.

Built Different products carry this compact maker's mark beside their copyright information. It identifies the parent company without competing with the product, and always links back to BuiltDifferent.tech in a new tab.

STAMP 01DARK SURFACE
STAMP 02LIGHT SURFACE
PLACEMENT
At the quiet end of a footer, beside copyright or product ownership information.
BEHAVIOUR
Link the complete stamp to BuiltDifferent.tech and open it in a new tab.
ROLE
A quiet parent-company signature, never the product's primary call to action.

ASSET STUDIO

Build the version you need.

Every export is rendered in your browser from the approved master artwork. Choose a mark, colour and output format, then capture a production-ready shattered PNG.

06

COLOUR

Purple identifies.
Cyan activates.

Accent colour is valuable because it is controlled. A typical composition is mostly dark foundation, then neutral content, Built Purple, and finally a small signal of cyan.

07

TYPE + VOICE

Say it plainly.
Document it precisely.

MICROSOFT SANS SERIF / PRIMARY

DIFFERENT.

Short statements. Strong weight. Compact spacing. Confidence backed by evidence.

STATUS: BUILDING
TYPE: INTERNAL EXPERIMENT
BUILD: 01.4

Use metadata to document real information, never to manufacture technical theatre.

08

USE

Controlled disruption.

DO

Break with intent.

Use one coherent fracture direction. The mark should still read instantly and feel engineered.

DO

Protect the silhouette.

Keep clear space around every state. The disruption happens inside the system, not through crowding.

DON'T

Turn it into debris.

Avoid random shards, glass effects, glows and visual noise. Shattering is a route change, not destruction.

DON'T

Make accents compete.

Purple owns the identity. Cyan signals activity. They should not carry equal visual weight.

BUILT DIFFERENT TECHNOLOGY

Building technology
differently.
